The room was nice but...
The location and the neighbourhood were very poor, and as I heard from the locals, this area is not safe.

Great accommodation. Highly recommended.

The owner is a warm, very attentive, helpful, and caring person. She gave us valuable tips on where to eat well and inexpensively in Istanbul and what we absolutely must see. She was always there when something was needed or not working: The incorrectly mounted hook in the bathroom was promptly replaced.
Our rooms were sufficiently large, comfortable, stylishly furnished, and spotlessly clean. They were cleaned daily, and the towels were changed every day. The beds were very comfortable, the bed linen was high quality and fragrant. Each room had a safe. The bathrooms were modern, and all sanitary facilities worked perfectly.
There is an elevator in the house, which is extremely practical as one usually arrives with luggage.
The house is located on a small street in the old town, close to the center. It is very quiet at night as there is hardly any traffic. There are a few good cafes for breakfast nearby. Just a few minutes' walk away are Taksim Square with its various transport connections and Istiklal Street with its countless cafes, restaurants, and shops.
We have no complaints, just a small note: While the rooms have a small kitchenette with a refrigerator and sink, there is no stove or cookware for preparing breakfast. This did not bother us as we always had breakfast outside.
Before booking the accommodation, we read all the reviews. We can now fully confirm all the top ratings. However, some of the negative reviews are difficult for us to comprehend.
The immediate surroundings may not be particularly attractive, but some of the vacant, run-down houses are gradually being renovated. However, the area cannot be described as shady or unsafe - there is neither a red light district nor a nightclub nearby. We felt safe even at night and did not encounter any shady characters.
The street is steep - like most streets in Istanbul. After all, the city is located on several hills, which is why many streets are steep or even very steep. Consequently, people who are not fit or have limited mobility need to look for alternative accommodation.
We consider the extremely negative review of a guest who claims to have booked for three people (although the Booking.com information states 'TRAVELING ALONE') and alleges that the owner demanded an additional fee for the second person to be completely inaccurate.
