A cautionary tale of no light at the Lighthouse.

The individuals managing this establishment were kind and delightful.

We encountered a problem at this venue which seemed to be more related to its age rather than anything else.

On the second night of our 4-night stay, the fuse in our room kept blowing, even though it had worked perfectly fine the first night with devices charging alongside the air conditioner. We had to wake up very early in the morning for a bus trip to Gallipoli. With no power in our room, we showered by candlelight given to us by another traveller (internal bathroom with no lights). We couldn't charge our devices and had to wait for an electrician to come and assess the situation. He arrived around 10:45pm, disconnected the aircon, and left. We slept in a hot room at around 29 degrees Celsius, shared by our family of four. Insects attacked us during the night since we had left a window open for ventilation. Another room was offered, but it could only accommodate 3 of us, and I wasn't comfortable leaving my 14-year-old alone in a room on his second night in Istanbul (he had fallen asleep after sightseeing).

On the third night, 3 of us stayed in Çannukkale, leaving our daughter waiting all day until 9:30pm for the electrician to return and fix the electricity. He left at 11pm, leaving his electrical equipment scattered across the 3 beds in the room. This situation caused a significant issue for our daughter, who has a severe head injury and needs plenty of rest after a long flight (which is why she stayed in Istanbul while we visited Gallipoli and Troy).

I understand that this issue was beyond the host's control and being summer, they may have been limited in offering an alternative. Nonetheless, they were content to leave us in an unsatisfactory situation rather than providing a refund or arranging a nearby relocation. They also seemed fine with standing next to the switchboard and resetting the circuit breaker every time it tripped while we were trying to shower. Despite having nothing plugged in inside our room, the circuit kept tripping??!! The fire risk worried us.
