The hotel's location.
There was no safety box in the room. We asked the reception several times, and finally they brought a safety box without a battery. There was a bad smell in the toilet, and you could smell cigarette smoke in different parts of the hotel.

The bedroom and bathroom are roomy and spotless.
The room is equipped with efficient air conditioning and a pleasant window.

The location was amazing, right in the heart of everyday Istanbul. This is the true Istanbul, not a touristy or commercialized version. The staff at the White Palace Hotel were extremely helpful, welcoming, and fun. It's a great deal for the price. While it's not a luxury hotel, it's a reliable, clean, and friendly place to stay. I especially enjoyed the small outdoor courtyard with private tables separated by plants. Each room is equipped with a desk, a safe, a refrigerator, a flatscreen TV, and a kettle. I believe there is no better value in town.
This is an older property and some areas could benefit from a little maintenance. The walls are a bit thin, so noise from my neighbor's TV was audible.
