It was an unpleasant experience. I booked and paid for a 3-night stay. When we arrived at the property, we were told by a man that they had a problem with the installation and directed us to another hotel, after making photocopies of our identity documents without giving us any explanation. We were taken to a different address, a few streets away, to a very small hotel room with 3 beds and a strong smell of mold.
The man who escorted us said that this is the situation and we have to accept it.
We mentioned that we paid for a family suite for 3 people, 40 square meters, with car parking included (which was one of the main facilities for booking at Lighthouse), therefore we do not wish to stay and how do we get our paid amount back. The man who escorted us called someone who claimed to be the owner of Lighthouse and told us that this is the situation and he cannot help us. We insisted that we cannot stay in such conditions and he said he can only refund the amount after a few days, online.
We had to find alternative accommodation.
We filed a complaint with booking.com, and the next day they informed me that Lighthouse confirmed our accommodation, that there is no issue from their side, and they are waiting for us.
Horrible first-time experience in Istanbul.
I kept reporting to booking.com until Lighthouse canceled my reservation, considering that the accommodation did not take place due to the Lighthouse property.
Parking is not possible as stated in the description because Lighthouse hotel is on a narrow one-way street.
A horrible experience, with a touch of scam.
