Lack of windows, musty smell, rooms being in the basement

First time in Turkey. Loved it. A very friendly bunch. Recommended.

The breakfast was 'different' in terms of the food we would normally eat. That's not a criticism, just a cultural observation. It was acceptable though. We had a room that looked over the street and a bit of the Bosphorus. It was smallish but pretty much as we expected - tidy, clean and comfortable enough. I don't recall any issues with noise apart from the call to prayer in the mosque outside, but if that's not your thing, don't go to Turkey. It's a brief and interesting cultural event. The location is excellent for the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, the Basilica Cistern and Arasta Bazaar. There's also a nearby train or tram to take you further afield. We had them organise return rides to the airport for €100. (make sure you have cash)

Maybe the breakfast, but not a biggie. There is no lift, as is often the case in smaller hotels, so do a bit of gym work if you travel with heavy bags. The guys at the reception helped us in from the cab and back to it. Overall though, a great spot if you want to walk to some key tourist attractions and no real complaints.
